Here’s a very simple appetizer idea — radishes, feta cheese, crusty bread and butter. It’s pretty, healthy and great for those folks who like to nibble on a bit of this-and-that. Spread some butter on the bread, add a piece of cheese, sprinkle a little sea salt on a radish and munch away.
French radishes like the ones shown here grow very quickly in an autumn garden. I planted these on August 10 and they were ready to eat by the middle-to-latter part of September — less than two months. They’re also very easy to grow: just sow the seeds in shallow soil in full sunlight and keep them watered.
Serve the radish plate along with some assorted nuts and wine and you’ve got a simple, quick and easy starter for a dinner get together.
